News from the Practice

Recent meetings that have been attended by vets from our practice include

  • British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) Meeting-September. Liverpool Echo Arena. Speakers from all over the world with all the latest research on equine veterinary medicine. All our vets went for between one and three days.
  • Advanced Orthopaedic Surgery Meeting- September. Rossdales and Partners, Newmarket. Fantastic hands-on course involving arthroscopy and internal fixation at one of the pioneering equine practices in the world.
  • Ophthalmology-October. Glasgow. Claire and Sarah went on this two day meeting where several top equine ophthalmologists from all around the world came together to discuss the latest findings.
  • BEVA day meeting- November. Newcastle Racecourse. A wide variety of topics including medicine and orthopaedics. Claire and Elliott attended.
  • All meetings were extremely useful in finding the most recent and up-to-date information on every topic.
  •

At this point, I have to introduce two new vets.

Firstly, Sarah Allen joined the practice in the summer after working for a few years in mixed practice. She has more of an interest in medicine but is enthusiastic about all aspects of the job. Sarah is known as Sarah 2 as a result of having two Sarahs in the practice (the other Sarah Walker takes the mantle Sarah 1 because she was here first!!)

Secondly, Elliott joined us in July from Liverpool University. He has a distinctive style and is a very fashionable type of chap. He hopes to continue his interest in horse-riding despite the demands of veterinary practice; he worked in a riding school through his teens and continued this through University. As a result of this he is well up to speed with the pressures on riding schools.
